When envy is not the root of all evil

I want to talk about an unusul, strong emotion gave me a light bulb moment.

Now, I am not up for envy or coverting the achievements and success of others. Although I lack a bit of self confidence, I feel blessed to be who I am and lead the life I lead. I love my adventure and the people in it, and I rarely feel I want what other people have. Envy and I are not well aquainted, thankfully.

So when one day last week I felt a surge of envy that brought me to my knees, I was really surprised and totally out of my comfort zone.

As a proud Ambassador of the Women of Contribulation movement I am about support, celebration, inspiration and being delighted by the lives and work of others, especially women, so I felt ashamed and really confused.

What could this mean?

I had been watching a webinar replay of a woman I admire, and became so emotional as she talked. Not only has she found her purpose, but was so in tune with it that when she spoke about it her energy could raise the roof, she had developed her own fantastic method and was serving loads of people with her work and making a good living doing so.

"I want some of that!" "When will it happen for me", I cried like a baby.

Of course, I was absolutely so happy for her and still felt celebration, admiration and proud of a woman in her power, showing up in the world. I was happy she was living her bliss.

Absolutely Yes! This is not the point.

But I was in self judgement and comparision and it did not feel good.  I felt that I was failing. I felt that I was not on purpose, not succeeding and I wanted to be as sure as she was. I wanted to raise the roof when I talked about my work and I hadn't been recently.

So, Envy, Thank you for the wake up call.

The strong emotion was a message that I was out of alignment. That I was pushing too hard against the grain, and not allowing. I wasn't being patient. I was in fear. Fear of success, fear of failure, fear or critcism, fear of not being good enough. I felt like I wasnt going to find my way.

"Envy comes from people's ignorance of, or lack of belief in, their own gifts"  Jean Vanier

I realised I had been teaching but not putting much time into my own practice, which I love and need, I realised I had been ignoring my intuition about a few things that weren't working and I was on my own path, it was unique and that's okay. I realised that everything is working out perfectly and the universe has my back if I let it.  I am good enough.

And since that moment of realisation and surrender I feel different, like something shifted. I feel more peaceful and faith is restored. My classes have gone well, including my children's classes which can sometimes be wild, and I have had lovely feedback from clients.

I changed some funky energy and I have Envy to thank.

There are no negative emotions only flags, signposts and alarms that give us messages. Staying in the emotion and dwelling, culviatiing stories and excuses is where the pain sets in..

Listen to the message, reflect and process.. Job done.. ..until the next time.

Pilates Detox and Recharge

An extremely enthusiastic Happy New Year to you! (See the video to see just how enthusiastic it is..haha) What can I say - I get excited!

Over a week in and the festive season seems a long time ago now. The new year is in full swing and I hope has started off well for you. It's going to be a goodie!!

Exciting times full of adventure and possibility...

Whether it's been a hectic time or a quiet time, it's almost inevitable that the wellbeing routine was wound down or sidelined, and you had taken the foot of the accelerator in some areas. Me too. In my opinion, it's a must.

We all need a bit downtime: a necessary lull in prep for an new start...

Getting back on the horse is more fun sometimes than staying on, no?

But now into the throes of it with gusto! Business as usual and the wheels of routine are back in motion.... but with new exciting ideas and goals added to make time for.

And so here it is; The time is now ... Commitment to new desires and things we want to achieve and make happen..

Whatever you want to accomplish in any of the areas of your life; Health and Wellbeing, Relationships, Business and Career, Adventure.. Whatever your dreams and desires - a clear mind, strong body plus a super charge of energy will help to get you going....

Dream Big, Plan Small, Get moving!

Remember you are already enough..

So with that said,  a short Pilates workout Suitable for beginners and experienced alike.

A well needed detox and body recharge. If there is a time that we need a bit of bodywork to get the blood flowing, flushed and relieve a bit of nervous energy that can build up around this time of year, then the time is now.

Detoxing and recharging will set up you for anything.. It Feels so good

Full of deep, cleansing breaths to re-oxygenate the blood, rotation of the torso to expel stale air lurking at the bottom or the lungs, and to give the intestines and internal organs a little massage,.. Plus rolling of the spine from top to bottom and bottom to top, massaging the spine, stimulating the circulation and putting energy and life into your support system. Oh yes!

Warning: My "Happy New Year" greeting in the video is extremely enthusiastic (a bit startling, in fact), but once you get passed that you'll be fine. My husband told me to leave it in, as that's how I am.. Hahaha

I hope you enjoy the video.. It was fun to make for you.

Thank you!!

Leave a comment if you have any questions, queries or concerns.. I'd love to hear from you.

The Sun Salutation - The Best Stretch Sequence Ever

The best things tend to stand the test of time and, although the exact origins are not agreed upon, The Sun Salutation, has about 2,500 years under its belt.

It was performed in honour of our gargantuan, natural heat and light source and, for thousands of years, the Sun has been revered as responsible for our entire world and for all life on it.

The reason we can sustain life on earth deserves a "salute" or two, no?

Ancient Yogis for millennia have taught that each of us is a mirror of our world; that we are the mountains, the sea, the sun and the moon, that we are made up of the same elements and that the Sun is a symbol of consciousness within. We feel connected and in tune with ourselves, and our world, when we feel the "light" within us is turned on, right?

The Sun, they say (the ancient yogis again) is an outer world representation of our own “inner sun,” our heart.

It is claimed by skeptics however, that it was invented by the raja of Aundh (a former state in India) just over 100 years ago. Boooo!!

No matter - Start the day by appreciating your beautiful life, body and self. Simple.

How or when it originated doesn't matter and there are over 20 recorded versions of The Sun Salutation to boot. Whichever one you do, its a beautiful way to start the day, honouring your own light; getting out of your head and into body, giving it a really good stretch and calming the mind.

"Salute" like you mean it....

More than just a good stretch of course be sure to practice your Sun Salutation like you mean it  -  with a spirit of gratitude and appreciation and a conscious awareness to the postures. After all, the sequence is essentially a humble appreciation of the light within you.

Giving it your all turns a nice stretch into an fantastic experience for yourself.

Make each movement as mindful and precise as possible, especially as you near the end of each round, as its a bit tiring.

As a start 3 to 5 rounds is good, working up to about 10.....108 is not uncommon so you'll be fine!! C'mon,  Lets give it whirl!

Ego Eradicator - Instant Energy Boost

Yay! I got there..the first video and post. It's September and I always feel so excited this time of year. Its a good time for new beginnings and promising adventures, more so than a new year, I reckon. Remembering the start of a new school term, new shoes, new classes and new possibilities, this time of year still provokes that excitement and positive expectation of the new things to be discovered and learned... So here we go. This is the first!

And since you always remember your first ...

...I want to share one of my favourite meditations, one that raises your energy levels, super fast, to super alertness and clarity and one that you wont forget.

Perfect for when we could do with a boost, this meditation provides an alternative to yet another cup of coffee or sugar hit. Although you might get funny looks in the office (you'll see why when you watch the video) you can do it whenever and you feel amazing.

It works by balancing the left and right hemispheres of the brain, oxygenating the blood and recalibrating the psycho- electromagnetic field. That's the science!

It has a great name. It's called Ego Eradicator ..Do it for 3 minutes everyday for 40 days you'll know why....

It can be quite challenging at first, but try and push through your resistances as the work is going on internally and the magic is in the aftermath. You can do it!

You can feel the affects of increase in alertness and energy immediately!

The long term affects, if done daily for 3 minutes a day for 40 days and beyond, are an increased mental clarity and the breaking down of subconscious blocks. You'll find yourself able to see a big bigger picture and you will feel yourself moving forward where perhaps you have been feeling a bit stuck. You'll become aware that you are able to take steps in a direction that you once felt were blocked off to you....

...and wonder what was stopping you before!

This short and sweet meditation can get your verve on super quick, in the moment, and changes things long term. It's great.

Give it a whirl below.. Thanks I hope you like it.
